Cheap Scrapbooking Supplies and Materials

When you hear cheap scrapbooking you might not have good associations. After all, the word "cheap" doesn't exactly conjure up images of beautiful and well crafted scrapbook pages.

But when you look at the prices of many scrapbooking supplies, it's enough to give you a heart attack. The simple fact is that for many people, it's cheap scrapbooking supplies or nothing.

And besides: cheap no longer has to mean inferior. More and more, what it means is smart! People who find cheap scrapbook paper, stickers, and materials are smart enough to find the discounts and avoid the full price specialty stores. So if you, like me, would prefer to stock your shelves with discount scrapbook supplies, read on!

How to find cheap scrapbooking supplies and materials

Looking to milk your money for all its worth? Check out these handy tips.

1. Try digital scrapbooking

If you're a regular reader, you know the many benefits to digital scrapbooking. Here's another: digital scrapbooking supplies are almost always inexpensive, reusable, or even free. You can save a bundle by transferring your photos and designs to your computer.

2. Watch for coupons

Many big name craft stores offer coupons of up to 50% off on a regular basis. Usually you can only buy one item at a time, but if you're willing to make a few trips (or enlist helpers from among your family), you can collect coupons and make several purchases.

3. Watch for sales

There are some obvious sales. For instance, a couple of weeks after Christmas, all the Christmas stuff goes on sale, and the same stands for any other holiday. But also watch for discontinued items, slightly flawed items (you can get very cheap scrapbook paper if there's a flaw on one side, and then just use the reverse), or storewide sales.

4. Buy secondhand

Many crafters get tired of their supplies at some time, and then they start looking for ways to get rid of all that stuff. Check online sites like Craigslist, local ads, garage sales, thrift shops... the list goes on and on, and they all frequently contain cheap scrapbooking supplies.

5. Share and share and share

Get together with fellow scrapbookers, pool your miscellaneous supplies, and splurge on each other's dimes. You may even find that one of your friends has a useless amount of something you also have -- and when you put your scraps together, there's enough for one of you to make something useful.

6. Be creative

Don't limit your scrapbooking to items labeled scrapbook. Use everything from old Christmas cards to ticket stubs to handmade art to decorate your scrapbooks. You won't have to worry about discount scrapbook supplies if your supplies mostly come from things you'd otherwise throw in the garbage. Even shiny paper from chocolate bar wrappers works great for fancy scrapbooking.

Remember, scrapbooking shouldn't cost more than your car! Look for cheap scrapbooking supplies and save your money for the things that really deserve it.
